Thinning Schedules
for Intensive Forest Management
|
During Phase II (2005-2008) project specialists
are planning to develop methodology and techniques for establishing
forest norms for large territories (regions) by the example
of Pskov Oblast.
New forest norms are intended for practical
application in the public and private sectors in the sub-zone
of the southern taiga in the European part of Russia.
In April a panel of experts in the Council of
the Federal Forestry Agency reviewed norms
for commercial thinning (thinning schedules) and recommended
them for operational testing in Pskov, Leningrad, and Novgorod
Oblasts.
The project is also planning to develop the
following forest norms for Pskov Oblast:
norms
for final felling (clear and non-clear cuts);
norms
for commercial thinning;
norms
for regeneration;
regional
criteria for conservation of biodiversity in nature conservation
planning.
