Preventing a wildfire
It wasn’t a nice day for a conservation officer of Amu Darya nature reserve of Turkmenistan, Bairam Jumaev. A heavy thunderstorm was sweeping over the protected area while he stood on a fire prevention platform, overlooking the surrounding forests – highly endangered riparian woodland, called “tugai” in Central Asia.
